The Board
Constitution
SERIC operates under a constitution registered with the Office of Consumer and Business Affairs and complying with the Associations Incorporation Act 1985 (SA). The constitution sets out membership types, subscription levels, and the appointment of board delegates.
Role of the Board
The Board is responsible for the overall planning, management and governance of SERIC with the ultimate goal of enhancing the value of the association to all member organisations.
The Board consists of a delegate appointed by each Individual Member and a representative delegate appointed by each collective of Associate Members. Each delegate is a person who is duly authorised to exercise all of the powers and functions of its respective Member and holds one voting right on the Board.
The Board has delegated certain of its powers to sub-committees as required and the day to day operations of SERIC to the Executive Manager.
Operation of the Board
The Board meets regularly with a minimum requirement to hold meetings at least four times per year and special meetings when necessary. The Executive Manager and the Chairman establish the agenda for each board meeting. As a standing item the Executive Manager prepares a report to the Board which includes a summary of current activities and previous minute action items, together with financial and other reports as necessary.
